Double Alpha Academy Magnetic Powder Check 2.0
Please note:Â The current design of the new XL750 does not allow the bullet dropper to be positioned in station #4 of the toolhead because of the angle at which the powder Dispenser bar extends directly towards it. This means the bullet dropper MUST be positioned immediately after the powder dropper, in station #3. That makes it impossible to use a Powder-Check AND a bullet dropper at the same time. DAA will attempt to come up with a solution to allow the powder dropper to be rotated to anther angle to resolve this issue, but at the moment, be aware of this issue.
The DAA Magnetic Powder Check is a great addition to any progressive reloading machine, helping to ensure the quality and safety of your reloaded ammo. The unique new design uses a high-tech Reed Sensor and a magnet assembled to the plunger Rod, to assess if the charge in the case is of the correct height. This original design also provides, for the first time, an adjustability option. By bringing the Reed Sensor closer or further from the magnet, you can determine how forgiving the powder checker will be, or how much of a range of variance in the powder level should be acceptable without sounding the alarm. At its most sensitive, the accepted height variance is about 2mm, which correlates to a powder error of less than +-0.5 grain. More than sufficient to pick up any of the mistakes we are checking for, such as a double-charge, debris in the case or a case without powder. With the turn of a screw you can increase the acceptable range by distancing the sensor inside the electrical box, making the Powder Checker more forgiving and less likely to sound alarms you may not need. The DAA Magnetic Powder Check assembles onto a station immediately after your powder dropper, screwing into a standard die thread 7/8-14 station. However, unlike other powder check systems, the DAA product does not require a dedicated hole drilled through the tool head next to the station! It can be used on ANY progressive reloader which has an available station after the powder drop.A powder-check does require the use of a station in your toolhead, so if you do not currently have an available station, you may need to combine your seating and crimping into one station using a 2-in-1 seat/crimp die to free up a station. The DAA Magnetic Powder Check is activated off the top rim of the case rather than the base of the shell plate, this means that no alarm will sound if no case is present. The powder sensing plunger enters into the case mouth to rest on top of the charge and measure it’s height, sounding an alarm if the powder level is either too low or too high. It provides both an audible beep alarm as well as a bright red LED light when triggered. The DAA Magnetic Powder Check includes a replacement short plunger, suitable for use with rifle ammo. When using for rifle, simply replace the plunger, and assemble the steel rod upside down, using the end without the shoe to enter into the small case mouth. Parts included make this suitable to use with all pistol ammo (9mm and up) and for rifle from .223 and larger. It’s compact size, slick and modern design, ease of setup and adjustability, make the DAA Magnetic Powder Check the perfect accessory for your toolhead!
